Synopsis:

In ancient times, demonic beasts roamed the lands. A mysterious Taoist priest granted special powers of the Yin & Yang and Five Elements to the five clans of gold, wood, water, fire, and earth to fight the beasts. They drove the demonic beasts into the Hidden Mist Mountain and established a sealing barrier. Within the Mist Mountain lies the powerful Qilin beast, sealed within the Juque divine shield. To save his mother, the Fire Envoy Wenren Yixuan secretly opened the Juque divine shield, allowing the young Qilin to sneak out, setting off a bloody storm in the demonic world.

Exciting fight scenes

What I Like

They make this donghua with such high effort. I heard that the animation is entirely hand-drawn. It has beautiful and detailed backgrounds, also fluid action sequences.
The fights are exciting & interesting. Honestly, this is the biggest reason I like to watch it.
The plot is sufficiently interesting. Drawing from Chinese mythology such as the beasts and the Five Elements. The problem is also not really black and white. The beast attack human because some of them are greedy and torture a beast for their own selfish desire.

My Other Comments

Tbh, the story is interesting but somehow it’s lacking something emotionally. Well, at least for me. I’m usually a sucker of touching sibling’s relationship. Wenren Yixuan sacrifice a lot for his brother, Wenren Jingxuan, and vice versa. But I don’t find it too moving. I think it have something to do with how the donghua have many characters and each one of them have their own story & agenda. So they’re barely have screen time outside of battle and from what I saw when they’re on screen I didn’t develop much attachment to the characters.
