- Story about power struggle and scheming in the palace
What I Like
- I just really like my golden trio, Xiao Se, Lei Wujie and Wu Xin. Xiao Se is one of my favorite protagonist. Although I have to admit that in this donghua (particularly in season 3), his role is somehow not as prominent as in the live action.
- I like the friendship between Xiao Se and his friends, also his relationship with all his four guardians.
- I love story about the adventure in Jiang Hu. I also like story about power struggle in an empire. Xiao Se is the 6th prince and also a martial arts prodigy. So his story is combination of both things that I like.

My Other Comments
Before I watch this donghua, I actually has watched the live action version, The Blood of Youth. I really like the live action. There’s several differences between the story in live action and in the donghua. I just feel the story in season 3 of the donghua is too long. I don’t know if the donghua is following the novel story or not, or it’s just because they want to differentiate it from the live action, I feel like there’s a lot of drawn-out fight here, which is quite tedious. Some part of season 3 seems like filler. Season 4 also doesn’t impress me, which is why I give a personal rating of Love to Watch for the donghua, although I really like the story of The Blood of Youth.
Other Fun Facts
This donghua share the same universe with The Young Brewmaster’s Adventure and Tales of Dark River. There’s already a live action version (The Blood of Youth) starring Li Hongyi, Ao Ruipeng & Liu Xueyi.
