Synopsis:

On a small island, there lives a low-cost assassin who can disguise himself as anything, named Wu Liuqi (Seven). On the surface, Seven appears to be a barber, but in secret, he runs an assassination business. While carrying out these tasks, he often gets involved in a series of amusing accidental incidents with his targets, and every mission ends up in chaos.

While carrying out these strange missions, this weak assassin encounters many people and experiences many events. He gradually begins to understand himself better, and the mystery of his origins slowly comes to light. Little by little, perhaps one day, he will eventually recover his lost memories.

Funny and heartfelt series.

What I Like

  • This donghua told the story through a series of episodes where you have to piece together information about Seven (the protagonist), gradually shaping his character and unraveling the mystery of Seven’s origins. Aside from the main storyline, there’s also several subplots about the supporting characters. This make you will also like other characters, aside from the main protagonist.
  • Scissor Seven is quirky and funny in a nonsensical way, but it’s also has warm & hearfelt story. It’s kind of relaxing and doesn’t require you to think too much, but at the same time it’s suprisingly quite deep.
  • I also like the action scenes.

My Other Comments

While I do like this donghua when they give subplots to the side characters and give them time to shine, I think not all characters need to be explored. Particularly when the main story about the main protagonist has been dragged out for too long. This is very evident in season 4 onwards where Seven rarely appears and his story only has slight progress, but the show gives 2 episodes to explore Red Tooth’s past. Some people might like this because they ship Chairman Jiang with Red Tooth. Couldn’t be me though. I couldn’t care less about a guy who chose to merge with a demon & destroy a sect because his beloved refuse to leave the sect for him. Why should the woman become the one who feels guilty for a man’s bad decision?

Other Fun Facts
