What I Like

I like the visual and the fight scenes. I think this is one of the main point why I watch this donghua.
I like a story of found family. All of the 9 elders are powerful experts who lost their battle, become disable and live together in Canlao Village. But their mundane days come to an end after they found Qin Mu and decide to raise him. He gives color to their dull life & motivation to go on.
Qin Mu is smart, naughty & also filial. Ling Yuxiu is very cute. 99% of the novel is about fighting so Ling Yuxiu is actually rarely appear in the novel. I like how they give her more screentime in the donghua

My Other Comments

Actually my feeling for Tale of Herding God is a bit complicated. I mean so far I really like the donghua. The novel tho, there’s some point that I like and dislike from the novel. The original novel of this donghua is actually borderline harem. Qin Mu in the novel has 1 official wife, but he has quite ambiguous relationship with some other women. I still wait and see, since Sparkly Key (Xuanji) seems like to change their donghua to pure love. I feel like they will also change Tale of Herding God to pure love, but let’s see.
The later part of the novel when it reach the fighting between celestial venerable for me are complicated and not that interesting. But let’s see if that part will be adapted too.

Tale of Herding God has won 2024 Yuewen Global IP Awards and China (Jilin) Animation Award. National Administration of China also put it on the List of Outstanding Works in 2024 (animation category).
Currently it’s one of the most viewed nianfan donghua in Bilibili aside from A Record of Mortal’s Journey to Immortality
