What I Like
- The visual is so artsy & pleasant to the eyes. This is a big factor for me because honestly when I first start watching it, I thought the story is just another action fantasy story. I mean I’ve read a lot of story where the protagonist want to eliminate demons to take revenge for their mom/dad/sibling’s death. Despite this familiar plot, I still continue watching it due to its outstanding visual & exciting fight scenes. After several episodes tho, I start thinking that the story is getting more and more interesting. Now, it is one of my favorite donghua.
- I really like Meng Chuan as protagonist. Aside from his penchant for snarky remarks, Meng Chuan is someone who will do the right thing despite the risk of losing everything he has fight for.
- Lovely side characters, particularly Meng Chuan’s friends. I feel like generally this donghua has a lot of characters with cool design.

My Other Comments
- Tbh, sometimes when Meng Chuan is in his foundation of Saint form (the one with spiky hair, particularly when he has yellow hair), it reminded me of Goku in his Super Saiyan form😂. The design is very different, but that’s just my feeling.
- I generally like the change of the story from the original novel. But while most of the time it change the story to be better & have more “flavor”, sometimes I wonder if it’s alright to turn that many characters which aren’t villainous in the novel to be the bad guys in the donghua😂. Meng Chuan’s strength growth is also very fast in the donghua compared to the novel that I wonder how will they upgrade his power after this.
- I feel like the story in season 2 is a bit draggy when you watch the new episode once a week. But I think it’s okay when you bingge watching it.
