What I Like

Tbh, I don’t know how to evaluate this donghua because, in my opinion, the bad parts will annoy you and the good parts are excellent. In general, Han Fei is a smart protagonist full of schemes. It’s just that the times he uses his excellent schemes are far too few.

My Other Comments

  • I watch this donghua because it receives such a good rating, so I try it. After watching 45 episodes, I consider dropping it. The reason is that this donghua has very slow pacing. They laid out the background and characters in the first 45 episodes, and I feel like the protagonist hasn’t done anything notable for his ideals. Fortunately, the story picks up the pace after that and becomes more interesting when King Ying Zheng of Qin visits Han. But maybe I feel that because I’m familiar with Warring States period history.
  • The story is about Han Fei, the 9th prince of Han State. A lot of characters in this donghua are real historical figures because the story takes place in the Warring States period. Han Fei himself is a leading figure of legalism in China. As a prince, he is saddened by the state of his country that faces enemies from inside and outside. On the inside, there are corrupt officials who seize influence and abuse their power. On the outside, there is the Qin state that wants to conquer Han. Unfortunately, the king of Han isn’t capable and is easily swayed by his corrupt officials. This is one of the biggest problems for Han Fei, where he wants to oust corrupt officials, but at the same time, he needs them to defend against Qin.

Other Fun Facts

Nine Songs of the Moving Heavens is original animation that is the prequel of The Legend of Qin. But it is a separate story. Currently there is rumor that this donghua will be adapted to a drama.
