Before we start, you need to first read my article of explanation of Slay The Gods season 1. Particularly the world setting, power system & human ceilings. You can read it here.
As I have mentioned in my explanation for season 1, in the donghua they make the fights between Lin Qiye and Snake Woman seems to happen at the same time Team 136 fight Han Shaoyun. In the novel, Lin Qiye actually witness the battle between Team 136 and Han Shaoyun. Because Lin Qiye witness that battle, he has several questions in his mind. Therefore he asked Yuan Gang about it.
The first question is about Wu Xiangnan. If you remember in episode 15 of season 1, Wu Xiangnan’s forbidden ruin is Rebirth. He can regenerate his cells so his wound will disappear and his broken body will be back to normal again. But despite having this power, why his hand is still crippled??
So Wu Xiangnan used to be the member of the former Special Squad 005, Lanyu (Blue Rain). His hands still crippled because he was injured by divine weapon of Susanoo (Celestial Cloud Sword. Also more well known with the name Kusanagi Sword).
As I mentioned in the previous article, Night Watchman has 5 special teams & 322 local teams. Those 5 special teams are:
- Special Squad 001 Heroic Spirit. They will only appear much later in the story. They are the guardians of Daxia’s destiny & fortune.
- Special Squad 002 Psychic. A glimpse of Psychic Squad has appear in season 2. This special squad is tasked to handle dangerous individual (human, not monster/mythical creature) within Daxia.
- Special Squad 003 Phoenix. They have appear in season 2. Phoenix Squad’s task is to handle mythical creature that come from the mist (outer Daxia).
- Special Squad 004 Masked. They have appear since season 1. Their task is to handle mythical creature that appear within Daxia.
- Former Special Squad 005 Blue Rain. Their task is to carry exploration & doing mission in the mist. All of Blue Rain members has died, except Wu Xiangnan.
- Special Squad 005 Nightfall. Lin Qiye will be the captain of future Special Squad 005, Nightfall. Nightfall is the next 005 squads, replacing Blue Rain which Wu Xiangnan used to be part of.
In episode 10, Lin Qiye asked Merlin how to heal Wu Xiangnan. This is actually a big spoiler. Indeed, miracle is always besides them.
The 2nd question Lin Qiye’s asked is about Chen Muye. In season 1, Han Shaoyun asked Chen Muye why he is still in River Realm (Chuan Jing) even after 10 years has passed. Chen Muye’s forbidden ruin is 037 Black Impermanence. A very strong forbidden ruin. So why he’s in Cangnan?
I have said in the previous article that normally the strongest & most potential Night Watchman will be placed in special squads or in big cities. But Chen Muye, who possess such a strong forbidden ruin is placed in Cangnan, which is smaller than biggest city like Shanjing (the capital of Daxia).
Yuan Gang told Lin Qiye that Chen Muye was actually in Team 006 in Shanjing City. But 9 years ago there’s divine war in Daxia (Yuan Gang said this at New Year’s Eve. The divine war happened on October 2012. 9 year because he said it in 2021. It’s 10 years from season 2 timeline since it’s already 2022 in season 2). Chen Muye received a mission to Cangnan bu he didn’t appear again after that. Not until he appear again as the captain of Team 136.
This is actually just an illustration and maybe a spoiler that at the end of volume 1 in the novel, the big fight will be between Lin Qiye & Loki. This fight is where the title of this donghua derived from. Yeah, that one is Loki in his god form.
Actually the training camp has been held almost 1 year. It’s just that the story of their training mostly get cut in the donghua. This watch is part of their training & they must wear it all the time. Basically this watch will send mental current to your body. Therefore you need to counter it with matching mental power. If you can’t control your mental power, you will become like Baili Pangpang.
No explanation needed about the medal awarding ceremony. Just want to highlight that Wang Mian receive the sea of stars medal after he sacrifice his life span to rewound his time for 1 hour in east sea to evacuate millions civilians before Yamata no Orochi arrive. Along with Masked squad, he fight it before the human ceiling arrive.
This story is actually tied with Wu Xiangnan story above. Five years ago, yamata no orochi came to east sea. Masked squad hold it back. Human ceiling then arrive & fight it. Yamata no orochi then runaway. Blue Rain squad then tasked with chasing it in the mist. Unfortunately when they chase it, they meet Susanoo & annihilated, except Wu Xiangnan who has the power of rebirth. He come back & become the vice captain of Team 136.
Anyway, in episode 1-3 they actually make something that happened in sequential order to be happened at the same time. Which might make you think it’s confusing. The sequence in the novel is:
Treat Merlin > get summoning magic > final exam > getting A Zhu & Rubik Cube > Get Mumu.
I’m someone who is flexible with change in the story as long as it still within the logic & setting of the novel. But honestly I don’t like how they make Lin Qiye gain summoning magic at the same time of the final exam & try it there.
In the novel, Lin Qiye was very cautious when using his other powers. Because by being known as the agent of 2 gods has already bring so much problem for him. Remember how Ancient Gods Church plan to come to get Lin Qiye at the end of season 1? In the world of Slay The Gods, a god is a being that control a law. For example, the law of time, the law of thunder, etc. A divine agent is bestowed divine ruins by a god, meaning they also have limited control of a law. Normally, a human being can only have 1 kind of god’s power inside of them. But Lin Qiye is very special. Because he has multiple god’s power. Meaning he also has limited control on multiple laws. No ordinary human can do that. Which is why Ancient Gods Church spend so much resource just to get him.
Night Watchman also put special emphasized on him because they deem Lin Qiye as very important. Now what would happened if people know Qiye has power from Merlin?? Even more problem will come. Night Watchman would also question how he can be chosen by so many gods.
In the novel, Lin Qiye becomes no 1 in the final exam solely with his swordsmanship & keen mind. No summoning magic, no getting the spider to his hospital. A Zhu only come to his mental hospital after Qiye kill him (all mythical creature that Qiye kill will be in his hospital).
This is a donghua only scene, for comedy. Tbh, if something like this happened in the novel, Lin Qiye might get questioned.
After the final exam, Lin Qiye gain A Zhu (the spider) & Rubik Cube as orderlies in his mental hospital. Actually this “IQ 250” is kind of hidden joke. Because 250 is slang in Chinese meaning stupid.
Regarding summoning magic, there are 2 types. Random summoning & dimensional summoning. Random summoning is really random. You sacrifice something & get random item in return. But dimensional summoning is precise. You need to make a contract, usually with a creature, from other dimension. The first other dimension creature that made contract with Lin Qiye is the war mummy, Mumu. Actually in the novel Mumu like Lin Qiye from the start, no fights.
Actually this is some kind of spoiler, although this is in donghua only, not in the novel.
Other than Mumu, Lin Qiye also makes contract with his orderlies. That’s why Lin Qiye can summon rubik cube & A Zhu. You know, the mental hospital is inside Lin Qiye but it’s also count as something that exists in other dimension. So Lin Qiye can use dimensional summoning. After this, Lin Qiye also modified the summoning magic so he can summon his weapons.
This is our baddie, Xia Simeng. She’s the captain of Special Squad 003 Phoenix. She wants to recruit Lin Qiye to her special squad.
This is Kong Shang, the vice captain. You will see the rest of Phoenix Squad in episode 14. Phoenix Squad cloaks color is golden and you can see Kong Shang wearing it here. Phoenix Squad’s task is to handle mythical creature that come from the mist (outer Daxia). That’s why in episode 3 you see the captain & vice captain mainly operate in the border of Daxia.
As I said in my previous article, Masked squad actually has 7 members. Only 5 that come to the training camp. This is the full team.
Lin Qiye’s score in training camp is 95. He rank no 1. No 2 is Shen Qingzhu with 92 & no 3 is Cao Yuan with 91. There are team that already request Lin Qiye.
The process of Lin Qiye come to Team 136 after training camp in the donghua is actually different from the novel. In the novel, the upper level directly assign Lin Qiye to Cangnan city. This is become an uproar because usually the best graduate will be sent to Shanjing city. In the novel, Shen Qingzhu was assigned to team 006 & Cao Yuan to team 007. Shen Qingzhu was protesting because he think Lin Qiye is the one who should be assigned to team 006 Shanjing city. They change it in the donghua, but they still give hint that Lin Qiye’s case is special. This is actually an important clue.
As I explain in the previous article, Baili Pangpang has a forbidden item called Free Space. it’s a pocket dimension. So when the weapons in the armory disappear, they check the Free Space. When the disappearance of the weapons is actually because of Mumu.
I think Episode 4 is still easy to understand. Basically, after the case with Ancient Gods Church try to kill Lin Qiye in new year’s eve, the training camp has deal with the traitors & upgrade their safety system. That’s why Ancient Gods Church can’t infiltrate the training camp & doesn’t come near Lin qiye again after that.
But then there’s a disaster in Jinnan mountain. This happened only 2 days before the recruits supposed to take oath in graduation ceremony, to officially become Night Watchman. To save the survivors, they mobilize the recruit to the disaster area. Far from the safety of the training camp. So what’s better time for Ancient Gods Church to launch an attack than right now?
This is Yiyu, one of the leaders of Ancient Gods Church (AGC). He’s actually a divine agent (his forbidden ruin is no 018, so it’s a divine ruins) but it never really specified for which god in the novel. Probably Hela.
It’s a bad translation. They’re actually talking about Special Squad 002 Psychic. This special squad are tasked to handle dangerous individual within Daxia. So Psychic Squad has hunt Yiyu for a long time.
You can get a glimpse of Special Squad 002 Psychic in episode 6. Basically Yiyu that come to the Jinnan mountain are just 2 clones. The real body still busy running away from Special Squad 002.
I think episode 5 also easy to understand. I just want to add trivia that Star Blade is really made from special material. It is forged by the avatar of Queen Mother of the West (a Daxia deity).
In episode 6, Shen Qingzhu talk about eradicating Ancient Gods Church believers & he will really do it.
People are asking if Shen Qingzhu really dies. Well, this is your answer. Shen Qingzhu owe a lot to Pangpang for this. In the future, Shen Qingzhu also help Pangpang for an important thing to repay him
Ancient Gods Church come to seek the secret on how Qiye can be the agent of 2 gods & to kill Qiye if he refuse again to join. This is why Lin Qiye fought desperately, struggling for a while to fights several people in higher realm than him. He felt guilty & thought this disaster come because of him. But in the donghua his fights is only given 2 minutes screen time & it’s relatively easy for him to kill all of his enemies. In the novel, he struggle for a while fighting 2 of the peak River realm enemies at the same time. Before finally using the rubic cube to seperate those 2 people first and kill them one by one.
Yiyu try to take a peek on Lin Qiye’s soul. He doesn’t know there is the gods’ mental hospital there.
Actually in the novel, Merlin swap Yiyu’s clone soul. So the soul from Yiyu’s clone that come to Qiye’s mental hospital is taken out by Merlin, then he cast shape shifted spell to change its form into dog. Yup, that dog is actually Yiyu clone’s soul. Inside Yiyu clone’s body is a different soul from other dimension. But in the donghua, they make the different soul from other dimension become a dog’s soul.
This is actually only a part of conversation of Nyx & Lin Qiye regarding soul bearing. Do you guys remember how in season 1 Nyx actually already can come out to the real world in soul form? Yup, it still her soul form because her treatment progress has reached > 50% but still hasn’t reached 100%. The donghua doesn’t really explain about this.
Although having gods in his mental hospital might seems to give Lin Qiye much help, we need to know that all those gods in Qiye’s hospital don’t have the complete divine status. They are broken. In Slay The Gods world, a god has divine soul, divine body & divine personality. The treatment progress correspond with how much their power has return. When the treatment progress has reached > 50%, Nyx has regain her divine soul & can go out to the world in her soul form. She still doesn’t have her divine body. She can only get out from the mental hospital with fully restore divine body when the treatment progress has reach 100%.
Nyx herself can come out to do the battle, but her power in her soul form is lacking. Therefore, she propose to infuse her soul power to Lin Qiye’s divinity. Lin Qiye has a hint of divinity inside his body because he carries Nyx’s divine ruin, Dark Corrosion. With soul bearing, there will be Nyx soul power and Lin Qiye’s body that has hint of divinity. Therefore the power will be stronger. But soul bearing also carry risk. For Lin Qiye, Nyx soul is too powerful while his divinity and physical body are too weak (compare to gods). So Lin Qiye really can not bear a god’s soul for too long or too often, otherwise his soul will be broken. There is more explanation on this in episode 15.
In episode 7 they talk about Nyx’s past. There will be more information about Nyx’s past and the reason Nyx has mental illness in episode 15.
The part where Qiye borrow the power of A Zhu & also Merlin helps Qiye here is in donghua only. I don’t think Merlin treatment progress is high enough to allow him to cast magic outside at this point in the story. But so you know, this isn’t canon in the novel.
You see that spiral that looks like a small galaxy? That is Nyx soul power, that will infuse Lin Qiye’s body.
This is Lin Qiye as Nyx soul bearer. He looks more glorious & beautiful because inside his body is the soul power of goddess of the night.

Using soul bearing is really taxing to your body & soul. Lin Qiye doesn’t have any choice tho, either using it or everyone might die.
The jade is working hard. Remember? This is alluding to the fact that Shen Qingzhu isn’t dead. He is saved by reversal jade that was given to him by Baili Pangpang.
Cao Yuan referring to when Qiye become Nyx soul bearer. The part where Baili Pangpang said they will become the strongest Night Watchman of Daxia is a foreshadowing because all of them will become special squad (except Mo Li).
In episode 9, we were introduced with Bell Clandre case and An Qingyu as Mythical Thief. Remember An Qingyu from season 1 episode 5 and 14? An Qingyu has a power that he called “The Only Correct Answer”. This power let him analyzing everything, including mythical creature power. In season 1 episode 14, An Qingyu able to give warning to Lin Qiye that his family is in danger because he has successfully extract Nanda Snake Demon ability to share vision. He put his rats all over the city & he can see everything that his rats can see.
Back to Bell Clandre case. I think the donghua might making it looks more complicated. In the novel, they still haven’t decide that the murderer is a Ten-Cut Ghost Child, because this mythical creature is stupid. The essense of the murder cases in episode 9 – 12 is there’s someone with forbidden ruin who want to revive a western Mythical Creature from the mist called Bell Clandre. I don’t really remember why this fanatic want to revive Bell Clandre, but its ability is to influence mind. Maybe he was influenced by Bell Clandre. Yup, Bell Clandre can influence people’s mind/mental corruption. It can control people. Its real form is a golden flying insect.
A corrupt bar owner in Cangnan, obsessed with Bell Clandre powers, orchestrated a large-scale sacrificial ritual, consisting of 5 murders. The murder should take place every 2 days, at 3:33 a.m, the feet of the victims must not reach the floor. The 5th murder must involve sacrificing hundreds of people. The more powerful people that they sacrifice, the more powerful Bell Clandre will become.
Lin Qiye come to investigate and think the 4th murder case is strange, so he want to examine the body then he meet An Qingyu.
You might be wondering why this senior asked about Lin Qiye. This is Master Chen. One of the human ceiling. He is the one who is referred as One Master. He actually asked about Lin Qiye to probe about Lin Qiye’s mental stability. Because something shocking will happen. You will know later about it in episode 13.
As usual, the mythical creature that Lin Qiye kill will come to his mental hospital, including the dragon. Lin Qiye pick Hongyan as her name. In the future, while other special squad ride an airplane to go everywhere, Lin Qiye’s squad will ride dragon.
But it still in the future. Currently, Lin Qiye still can’t summon Hongyan the way he can summon A Zhu & Rubik Cube, this is because Hongyan is in sea realm while Qiye still in pool realm. The gap of realm is too far. But when Qiye become Merlin Soul Bearer in episode 15, he can summon her. When Qiye become Nyx soul bearer, his realm is rising to peak of sea realm. While become Merlin soul bearer, his realm raised into wuliang.
This picture is referring to Bell Clandre and its ability to control people’s mind, including to worship it.
Tbh, there is no fight with this creature in the novel. Lin Qiye & An Qingyu is fully immerse in investigating the case. Which is why I found the scenes in the donghua a bit strange, because they talk about the case while fighting this creature. In the novel, they devote their time for investigation. Maybe the donghua team feel they need to put fight scene in every episode. I wish they would preserve more intellectual vibe in the donghua. Because the whole Slay The Gods story is actually a chess game that has been set up since 2000 years ago to save the universe. It wouldn’t do if the donghua keep downplaying the “solving case” vibe.
Anyway, the gist of it is:
The 4th case is different from the case before coz the direction of the cuts on the severed fingers are different. It’s outward facing, while the cut on the video is inward facing. –>The body in the video is different from the body on the crime scene.
Therefore the victim is killed in another place, not the bar. Then after that the body of the victim placed in the bar by the murderer. This is why the blood is so little. –> the video is false.
The video is convincing but it’s actually false. An Qingyu deduce that the video is actually played backward. It’s not a scene where someone pinned down to the wall then get his fingers cut. But it’s actually someone with hyper regeneration power who grow back his fingers.
The one who record the video, the bar owner, then become their main suspect. But when Lin Qiye report to team 136 about it, the bar owner has book a flight leaving Cangnan. So Wen Qimo has board the plane. Then Lin Qiye & An Qingyu ride a spider to catch up with the airplane.
Actually the place of all the 4 murders has a pattern, based on that, they have deduced that the last ritual (the 5th murder) will be in Jingwan Residential Complex. But since the bar owner ride a plane, Qiye deduced that the last ritual will be done in the sky. Lin Qiye deduce that the bar owner deliberately give clues to Night Watchman because the bar owner want them to be in Jingwan Residential Complex at the time of the ritual. Because he also want to sacrifice the Night Watchman who usually has forbidden ruins.
This the information about Bell Clandre. The restoration of its physical body requires a soul sacrifice; ordinary souls are insufficient to support a complete revival. The optimal sacrifice is the soul of the owner of Forbidden Ruins. Which is why he plan to sacrifice Wen Qimo along with 200+ airplane passengers.
This is Bell Clandre in the crystal ball.
So basically, in this case there’s 3 enemy that they have to take care of:
- This man who has hyper-regeneration power (the bar owner) + forbidden item sequence 351 ghost thread. He is handled by Lin Qiye.
2. This Ten-Cut Ghost Children, who has power of replication. An Qingyu can dissect mythical creature, analyze them, then get their power. In the future, An Qingyu will have the power of replication & he use it to make a clone of his body, which is why he can be revived.
After this case, An Qingyu also search for that forbidden item ghost threads & get its power. In the future he can fights using threads.
- Bell Clandre.
Lin Qiye & An Qingyu think they have stop the ritual. But in the novel, Bell Clandre mind controlling several passenger to sacrifice themselves so he can come out from the crystal ball. He then plan to make the plane to still crash, to gain power
To prevent the crash, An Qingyu becomes the pilot. His power, The Only Correct Answer, can analyze everything including how the plane work. Which is why he will be able to fly the airplane.
You might be wondering why there’s a visual of a fish easting bubbles in the scene. It’s because Yu from An Qingyu mean fish. The fish that eating bubbles, according to the production team is the visualization of An Qingyu acquiring knowledge and analyzing what he should do to fly the airplane.
Lin Qiye stabilize the airplane using his power from Nyx, Dark Corrosion.
You have seen Black Impermanence in season 1 when Chen Muye fight Han Shaoyun. Have you ever wonder what is that thing that it suppressed? That thing is a divine item with divine ruin 008, Shiva’s Wrath (or as WeTV translate it, Shiva’s Curse).
Anyway, because the plane might crash & kill hundreds of people, Chen Muye uncover a part of Shiva’s Curse because he plan to use it. Fortunately the plane can fly normally again so he didn’t need to use it. But this will create a big problem later. Because the outer gods will sense it.
Since An Qingyu is very smart & powerful, Lin Qiye ask why he’s not just join Night Watchman. But An Qingyu said he’s not good with team work & he doesn’t trust Night Watchman.
An Qingyu will change his mind later, after he watch how team 136 working together to fight Frost Giants & defend Cangnan in episode 14. That’s why when Lin Qiye asked him to be his member, An Qingyu agree as long as he permitted to do his experiments. You might think someone as eccentric as An Qingyu will have a hard time to fit in, but he instantly click with other members because all Qiye’s team members are eccentric.
This is the commander in chief of Night Watchman, Ye Fan. He call both Chen Muye & Master Chen about Cangnan disaster that will come soon.
You might wonder who is this pink-haired idol. He is Loki, the god of deception. He has infiltrate Daxia for a while. Now that he has found what he’s looking for, he’s ready to attack Cangnan.
Remember the god you see in episode 1? Yeah, that was Loki. That pink-haired idol is his form when infiltrating Daxia.
In episode 13, Yang Jin (Lin Qiye’s cousin) appears again, in a scene that looks like paralel with Lin Qiye’s introduction at the start of season 1. This scene is to convey that the city conducting mass evacuation.
But it’s also some kind of spoiler to give you a glimpse of Yang Jin’s true form. If you have locked in since season 1, you will sense that Yang Jin isn’t ordinary. That time when Lin Qiye come with Nyx to see his family from outside & Yang Jin immediately sense it.
This is because Yang Jin is actually an extraordinary being. These are the foreshadowing of his identity.

Yang Jin is the reincarnation of Erlang Shen, a Daxia deity.
Lin Qiye’s birthday is on 5 October. The 4th murder case in Bell Clandre ritual was on 5 October 2022. So the 5th ritual (that time they’re on the plane) should be on 7 October. So this scene happened after Lin Qiye’s birthday.
Nyx’s mental ilness is due to shocked and severe grief because almost all of her children were murdered. While for Merlin, Lin Qiye deduce that his ilness is because there’s another soul that invide his consciousness. This is because Merlin was searching for the real world & in his journey to other dimensions he wandered to another world & accidentally another soul attach itself to Merlin (in the novel, it is implied that the invading soul resemble Patrick from SpongeBob universe😂. That’s why when this soul invade Yiyu, he suddenly want to hunt jellyfish).
After treating Merlin by extracting the invading soul, the treatment progress has reached > 50% so Lin Qiye gets a chance to extract divine ability from Merlin. What he got is Transformation magic. Lin Qiye can change his appearance into anyone he has seen before. Although he might experience mishaps.
Shen Qingzhu isn’t death. Remember that reversal jade Baili Pangpang gave him? First, it revive Shen Qingzhu that at the brink of death. Second, it will absorb a soul strike for the wearer.
Yiyu found Shen Qingzhu & wants to turn him into a believer. So he use soul contract to Shen Qingzhu. But the jade protect Shen Qingzhu’s soul so he isn’t brainwashed. He is pretending to be brainwashed & thus can infiltrate Ancient Gods Church as believer. Because what’s the best way to eliminate an organization other than destroying it from within? Shen Qingzhu will destroy Ancient Gods Church in the future (with help from Qiye cs) before joining Lin Qiye’s team.
The soul that invade Merlin is running away and invading Yiyu.
You might be wondering why Team 136 held a picnic together. This is some kind of relaxing time for Team 136 after Bell Clandre case. But actually it’s also their last picnic together, because as I write earlier, something will soon happen in Cangnan. This green spider lily which symbolize everlasting hope will be important in the future.
Chen Muye send Team 136 to Shanjing City, except Qiye. For their safety.
Lin Qiye can know this because he has the Seraph’s eye (as it was explained in season 1 episode 1, with Seraph’s eye Lin Qiye has vision that can see without being restricted by things. As you can see when he said the psychiatrist asked question that isn’t in the questionnaire. It was because Lin Qiye use his seraph’s eye to read it).
This is the current problem. So 10 years ago, there was a divine war at the border of Daxia where several outer gods want to enter Daxia, but blocked by several Daxia human ceilings at that time. They couldn’t breach the border, that’s why Gaia then use Shiva’s Curse, a divine item that can destruct everything. After that, Shiva’s curse disappear. It turns out Chen Muye has guard this divine item by concealing it using his forbidden ruins. The outer gods always search for this divine item. When Chen Muye uncover a corner of it, the aura leak. Three outer gods sense that it is in Cangnan City & decide to come. While 1 outer god (Loki) has already infiltrate Daxia to search the whereabout of this divine item.
Have you ever wonder, why Chen Muye keeps Lin Qiye in Cangnan if the condition is dangerous? Why he said Lin Qiye is at the center of this crisis? Why to keep Lin Qiye safe, they even send a human ceiling to protect him?
Actually your question should be asked since the start of the series. Why Michael the Seraphim angel burned Lin Qiye’s eyes and give Lin Qiye his divine ruin? Do you think he choose Lin Qiye randomly?
Have you ever think it’s strange that Lin Qiye stay in a mental hospital for so long? He’s there for years. Almost as if ….. he was deliberately put in there. For protection.
Why the training camp that usually held in Shanjing city, moved to Cangnan when Lin Qiye enrolled in it?
Let’s revisit Lin Qiye’s divine ruin that he received from Michael. His divine ruin name is <Mortal Divine Realm> and its divine power is “miracle”. At this point of time, even Lin Qiye himself doesn’t really understand this divine ruin. First of all, not long after he awaken his power, he attend training camp & they supress every recruit’s forbidden ruins with a special forbidden item. Second, contrary with Nyx and Merlin who Lin Qiye frequently visit, he never meet Michael except for the time Michael burned his eyes. So he never really know much about <Mortal Divine Realm>. Lin Qiye’s divine ruin is an important plot point in the story so you must keep in mind that Lin Qiye’s power from Michael is “miracle”.
Episode 13 gives you a glimpse of the 4 human ceilings:
- Master Chen,
- Ye Fan (the commander in chief of Night Watchman),
- Zhou Ping (the Sword Saint of Daxia. He will also become the teacher of Lin Qiye cs. Look forward to it in next season), and
- Lu Wuwei.
There is also Guan Zai (One Void), but he is still in seclusion in season 1 and season 2.
In episode 14 they show how Loki has many clones that has infiltrate Cangnan.
At the start of the episode, Loki was seen watching news of “his” demise. The one where he & his car blown away by explosive thrown by Lu Wuwei. Of course it’s not actually him & only his clone.
The crows that has forbidden ruin & can tell when a deadly disaster is coming.
Loki has found what he wants, that Shiva’s Curse is in Cangnan City. Now he decide to finally attack Cangnan. He open portals to let the frost giants to enter & attack Cangnan.
Yang Jin’s third eye is about to open since he has regain some of his power.
Disaster in Cangnan actually should happen in about 2 weeks, but it happened earlier than predicted.
Remember how Master Chen suddenly asked Wu Xiangnan about Lin Qiye? How Ye Fan, the commander in chief of Night Watchman call Chen Muye and said that Cangnan disaster is coming sooner than expected? Actually the higher up of Night Watchman knows that disaster will happen in Cangnan.

This is because 10 years ago, there was a divine war & something happened to Cangnan City.This disaster is inevitable. But the arrival of the outer gods, make the disaster come earlier.
Let me explain. There are actually 2 crisis that happening in Cangnan City. First crisis is outer gods come to snatch Shiva’s Curse from Chen Muye. But besides the crisis surrounding Chen Muye, there is an even greater crisis! And Lin Qiye is at the center of this crisis! This 2nd crisis is what referred by Yang Jin as the timing is a little early. But this disaster actually come earlier because the outer gods attack Cangnan.
Oh, don’t worry my dear. You will utterly & throughly, harmed. Physically & mentally.
By the way, the donghua combine the part of Chen Muye telling Lin Qiye about the Cangnan crisis and Master Chen arrival. Actually in the novel, Chen Muye told Lin Qiye about how he had supressed Shiva’s Curse for 10 years, then told Lin Qiye to rest. After he wake up, Chen Muye is already gone. When he went outside to search for Chen Muye, he meet with Master Chen. I feel like Lin Qiye wouldn’t let Chen Muye to go fighting alone, considering how loyal he is in the novel. But since the donghua have to cut a lot of things to fit the story into just few episodes, I can understand this change.
Actually Night Watchman are rare. That’s why in 1 city there’s only 1 team of Night Watchman. So the backbone of defense in Daxia actually are mostly ordinary soldiers.
Chen Muye know the crisis has come, so he call his ex-wife for the last time.
This is actually a spoiler. Indeed, even miracle must eventually come to an end. Hint: remember what is Lin Qiye’s divine power?
The system of Night Watchman: each city has a team of Night Watchman that will guard it. When the local team can’t handle the problem, a special team will be dispatched to help them. In this case, Special Squad 003 Phoenix was sent to help local team in Cangnan City. They were sent to help Cangnan city, since the threat comes from the mist.
Actually Chen Muye is some kind of divine agent. He’s the divine agent of King Yama, one of Daxia deity. But since Daxia deities are in their cycle of reincarnation, they can’t give power directly to their divine agent. Hence, they use medium, and the power they give is weaker. This is why Chen Muye’s power is still classified as forbidden ruins, not a divine ruin yet. Anyway, Chen Muye is really strong. Although his realm aren’t leveling up because of what happened 10 years ago.
Loki send Kraken to get the divine item from Chen Muye.
This is a bad translation. What he means is to find Michael’s divine agent a.k.a Lin Qiye. Now you might want to lock in. Why did Loki, a god, know Lin Qiye’s name? Why Loki want to capture him? This is because as Chen Muye said, Lin Qiye is actually the center of the crisis in Cangnan.
Why Loki said Cangnan is a strange city? Because this city is indeed very strange & peculiar. It will be a spoiler if I said more.
Another spoiler again. “Some things are simply destined to happen” refer to the greater crisis that Chen Muye told Lin Qiye. Master Chen also reveal to Lin Qiye that Lin Qiye is not ordinary person.
Master Chen has told Lin Qiye that he isn’t ordinary. That Lin Qiye must not take part in this battle. But he didn’t tell Lin Qiye why, or how important Lin Qiye really is. Lin Qiye didn’t know. But how would he know when the truth is wilder than his wildest dream. He didn’t see it coming.
The most stylish Night Watchman team, Special Squad 003 finally make their entrance. With Xia Simeng (Divine agent of Athena) as captain & Kong Shang as vice captain. Although as far as I remember there’s actually 8 members, 7 members make appearance here.
Of course our Mystical Thief also comes to save Cangnan.
You might be wondering what is this Wuyuan Sha. It’s Si Xiaonan’s forbidden ruin. If you remember in season 1 episode 1, Si Xiaonan can make a protective cover that will shield the wearer from all kind of harm from outside (like fire, cold, heat, etc).
Actually at first An Qingyu never plan to work in team. He prefer doing things alone. But after seeing Team 136 fights together, he begin think that having a team isn’t bad. Fast forward a year after this, he will be the vice captain of Lin Qiye’s team.Master’s Chen coachman refer to several gods that has draw closer to Cangnan & the 4 human ceilings that will fight them.
Actually, in the novel Lin Qiye didn’t escape from the mental landscape. He argue a lot with Master Chen & the master finally relent & let Lin Qiye come outside. But I think Lin Qiye can escape from this mental landscape is still in line with his divine ruin’s ability.
You all remember that when Lin Qiye’s eyes shine yellow, it means he use his divine power from Michael. As I mentioned earlier, Divine Ruin from Michael is called <Mortal Divine Realm>. Its ability is “miracle”.
So what is actually a “miracle”? Miracle is when something that is impossible can happen. It’s impossible for someone beneath the realm of gods to breach Master Chen’s mental landscape, but it’s possible for Lin Qiye. Because his divine ruin is “miracle”. But of course, there’s a catch. But that’s story for another day. Anyway, the ending credit of episode 14 actually contain a big spoiler.

The human ceilings finally join the battle.
I remember that one comment about Zhou Ping close his eyes in most of his scenes here due to social anxiety. Zhou Ping is the strongest from all the human ceilings, an important character that will be close to Lin Qiye cs. He will be their teacher in the future.
Actually Lin Qiye risked everything by bearing a god’s soul for the 2nd time. He will experience pain worse than death. His soul collapse, but whenever it breaks, his power of miracle mend his soul time and time again. Like reviving a person who is death again and again. Making Lin Qiye feeling the pain of his soul breaking countless times. But of course you don’t see it in season 2 because they will put that in the movie.
I think by this episode everyone is aware that 10 years ago there was a divine war in Cangnan. Ye Fan also participate in that war, but at the time he hasn’t become the commander in chief of Night Watchman.
If you have seen ending credit for episode 7, you can connect the dots with what Ye Fan said here. Yes, the mist can corrode power. Even gods aren’t immune to it. In Slay The Gods, there is one ultimate villain/final boss & it has 3 powerful subordinates. One of those 3 is the one who create those mist. Do you remember how Lin Qiye saw Michael when he look at the moon? Michael never really come to earth because he’s busy monitoring something on the moon. This is why in the opening song of season 1, You see Lin Qiye and Michael on the moon.
Yup. In Slay The Gods, Nyx’s children are slaughtered by other Olympus gods to maintain their divine power.

Season 2 end on a cliffhanger and you might be wondering what does it means. Now let’s put 2 and 2 together. What happened 10 years ago? Why Loki said that Lin Qiye has already lost 10 years ago?
Outer god said they lose to Daxia in the divine war 10 years ago. So why Loki said the one who lost is Daxia? Because Loki doesn’t refer to the battle. Daxia indeed lost something 10 years ago in the divine war!
Loki said Lin Qiye remember everything wrong from the very beginning. Indeed. Lin Qiye (also many people) indeed forget the things that happened before Michael burned his eyes.
Loki brought out about how Lin Qiye saw the angel. Why?
The answer is right in front of you. It’s literally in front of you.
As I said, the first question you should ask is, why Michael burned Lin Qiye’s eyes? Would an angel make someone blind & live in a mental hospital for years, without reason?
You can connect the dots by pondering the parts I said are spoilers in this thread. There’s so much hint even in season 1. Because Nyx have a mental ilness, in season 1 she thought Lin Qiye is her son Thanatos & when she come out to Cangnan city, she thought it’s Thanatos’s divine kingdom. Never googled what Thanatos is god of, if you don’t want to get spoiled.

Anyway, the movie will come out in 2027 & after that there will be season 3. I’m so looking forward because in season 3 Lin Qiye will finally has his own special squads & that’s when his adventure really start.
